the rubi project. 24/11.

We were surprised this week to get an email from the head of PR at Rubi Shoes. It had attached an invite to the launch of a new concept store in the city called 'The Rubi Project'. We didn't really know what to expect but were blown away when we showed up. The store looked great, it didn't look as 'standard' like other Rubi stores, rather was beautifully fitted out with vintage furniture. Along with this the new collection of shoes was stunning, my favourite aspect of this season is colour. Co-ordinating colour into your look is just so fun and playful, and Rubi has recognised this by providing styles in many different block colours. My favourite tone just has to be the blue! My other favourite aspect of the season is the rise of wedges. Below I took some photos of some that struck my attention in store, including sneakers that have an 'in-built' wedge, 'sneaky'!

Rather than just being an event for the media, it was centred around Australian bloggers. It was an absolute joy to meet other fashion bloggers and to share experiences. Some people I loved talking to were the girls from 'Meet Me on the Streets'. They do exactly what we do in the CBD and had had similar experiences when looking for people to shoot. Check out their blog, it's great and has some beautiful street fashion and photography! - www.meetmeonthestreets.com

Being spoilt with cocktails, a lolly buffet, shoes and of course great company it was an awesome night and we're so glad we were invited! Definitely go check out the store at 238 Flinders Lane, Melbourne.

The wonderful thing about store launch's is just about everyone there is a blogger or model. Making it very easy to find beautiful stylish people who are willing to be photographed. This made for a very productive couple of hours as we mingled amongst a very like minded crowd.

Sometimes being a blogger and capturing street style is a lot of hard work and not all that fun. But naturally from time to time it has it's perks. I couldn't help feeling like a was walking on clouds a little bit the other night. To be sipping on cocktail after cocktail while being surrounded by a high volume of beautiful girls dressed with impeccable style, truly was a phenomenal experience.

I'm a bit of a sucker for the tight fitting blazer and shirt at the moment. Probably because I can't wear them, but I think the look and style weighs up that balance of elegance to keeping it casual perfectly. Making it appropriate for most occasions.

I enjoy taking shots down Flinders Lane as it's quite narrow and there aren't many cars. It also doesn't have many commercial billboards and the buildings are pretty old. It gives a nice back drop for photos and sets a bit of a European vibe while attracting beautiful low light early in the evening.

This was the girl on the door with the guest list. She was really nice and accommodating when i'd go outside to take a shot, so I thought seeing as I liked her style as well i'd take her photo. I've just decided that     for summer my favourite colour to see on a girl will be blue, maybe it's the way the sun shines through it.

hello summer holidays. 14/11.

What a day we had! Humidity and sunshowers couldn't dampen our spirits rather we were excited to get back out on the streets. After taking a break over the exam period we're finally on holidays! We decided to go back to our usual hangouts to see who we could find. It was great to see people out and about and just enjoying the vibe that comes along with spring/summer. Street performers, business men and people just enjoying the city. Melbourne's such a diverse place, I love being a part of it and meeting interesting people along the way. I hope you enjoy reading about the people we photographed this week, they were so lovely and all up for a chat!

This guy and his mate were just hanging out at the GPO building, heckling people as they walked by. as they were funny and entertaining I thought i'd go over for a chat. I was fascinated by his extremely skinny guitar which is the same as a normal guitar just lighter. It's called a 'backpackers guitar' apparently, and was made in mexico. He played me a tune and I let him get back to watching the world go by. (photo uploaded to facebook)

This dog was absolutely gorgeous, Michael and I both agreed we should upload a photo. It's owner was pulling it along on a bike and it looked like it was riding it. I don't know if it was for a street performance but it was entertaining and many stopped to watch. What I thought was a bit dodgy though was the fact the dog was dyed yellow, animal cruelty or harmless fun? (photo uploaded to facebook)

So after getting distracted by all the interesting people at the GPO building, back to what we're here to do- find some great street fashion. This girl caught my eye at uni. Her high-waisted jeans and heels were great. I think i'm starting to get obsessed by wedge heels, I fell in love with the black ones shown below!

I saw this girl walk to the tram stop, she was so chuffed that I asked for her photo. I love it when people are modest, it makes me feel like i've made their day by just stopping them for a moment. Her skirt bag and heels shown below were absolutely gorgeous! (photo uploaded to facebook)

The girl below was our first selection of the day on what was a strange day weather wise. It rained on our way into the city which was quite depressing before the summer gods blessed us with their presents. I liked this girl, she had strong eyes and the natural gift of being able to relax and not pose.

We noticed this girl on Bourke St but got distracted and didn't take her photo. But she caught my eye again at Fed Square and this time with her boyfriend. I thought they were a cute couple so I thought I'd take a picture of them both and then take the picture of the girl by herself. It's a nice way to relax a boyfriend while your trying to photograph his girl. There's always that sense of "oh my god he's trying to steal my girlfriend", so anything to by pass that is always a positive. It's funny nothing in her outfit matched or fitted any other item, however some how it all worked.

I saw this cute young girl watching the Croatian Festival and liked how comfortable she looked. I decided to run after her and she had a very nice smile when I caught up with her. There's nothing like an out of control head band, good stuff!

As soon as the sun comes up and i'm in the city, I always start fighting the urge to go to the Roof Top Bar for a couple of bevs. The urge got the better of us once again yesterday and we decided to abandon shoot and climb the long stair case. It was packed as always on a warm day with plenty of beautiful people having a jive to some summer beats. I found my self immersed in the vibe becoming philosophical about how liberated the crowd seemed. Then I realised I was just semi-pissed and talking shit.
All in all is was great to get back out there,
Bring on summer, I fucking love you!
