the sun returns 28/7/11

This week wasn't looking as if we'd have any time to shoot, however when I set my mind to it luck just came my way. I first saw this girl while walking to the tram stop. She caught my eye with her great hair and outfit. It was the first time i'd gone back to ask someone for their photo after previously catching their eye. The whole outfit was from England as she'd just come back from overseas.

This guy walked past as I was shooting the previous girl, he was interested in what I was doing and asked if I was working for MX. I really digged his style and especially his necklace shown below. It's the first time someone's approached me and it was great he was up for a chat!
B.

Literally 5 minutes after the previous guy I stumbled across this girl and I couldn't believe my luck. Her dress and stockings immediately stood out and we waited until the crowds parted for the perfect shot. These three shots came about in 15minutes so luck was definitely on my side!

This groovy looking fellow is quite possibly the friendliest person I have ever shot. The midday sun made getting a good shot pretty hard as the light was just too high, however he was very patient as I messed around with my camera like a naive tourist. While I took his photo we all had a good chat mostly about getting drunk in-between classes - and once I was done taking snaps he chilled with us until his next class started. Coloured jeans will never lose their rock-star impression, and their ability to create a joyful mood. As Mick Jagger once said, "If it's worth doing, it's worth over doing".

Most people I meet hate having stuff permanently around their wrists. However, I've always been a fan of anything you can keep with you at all times to remind you of the best times in your life. If looking at your wrist can help you reminisce about laying on a beach in mexico with a few beautiful girls and few cold beers, Then fuck it, put shit on your wrists.
Also, for the first time in a while we had wonderful blue skys, and it was actually nice to be out in the world that we're apart of.
M.
Yep it's fair to say that midday at Melbourne Uni spells drinking beers on the lawns and the occasional visit of Wonder Woman.
M.
This guy brought back so many memories of my travels. Filling the diary out in weird and wonderful places aswell as never having two socks the same colour.
M.
I'm a big fan of a nice beanie with semi long hair. Just one of those things i've never been able to pull off or achieve and may just die wondering!

la melbourne 20/7/11

As far as winter goes, yesterday was as bad as it gets. It was cold, windy and ocasionally dared to throw that annoying spitting rain down upon us. As far as taking photos is concerned it's about as tough as it gets. However we persisted and found some lovely people out and about. Again we ran into many travellers who unfortunately aren't seeing the best weather our country has to offer. Yesterday was an interesting day despite the weather, we actually got our photo taken by another blogger (http://www.fashiontrics.blogspot.com/) which was a new experience and had a sence of 'deja vu' about it. We also got stuck talking politics at the end of the day with some same sex marriage activists which was a very humbling experience.
Peace and Love.
(Especially the love because it's LOVE week)
M.
It seems to be the flavour of the month at moment for girls to be enjoying the stand out tights with some sort of heel combination, and I have to say I really dig it!
M.
Yep! This dude was working the old extreme accessory style vision, how very 90's of him! However the point is clear, if you carry around a violin for the sake of being noticed, people will notice you. After all it is love week, maybe he was hoping to bump into a girl just carrying a Bow round and that would be fate!
M.

This guy was from Austria and was really nice, I really liked his coat and his chilled hair.
M.

The girl reading the art book outside the art gallery. How fitting. I suppose this was one of those moments where I was waiting for something to seduce me and point me in the right direction. I crossed the lights, had a thirty second browse for the most interesting person I could see, and I chose the girl in the red skirt.
M.
Plain and simple, one of those jumpers that never goes out of fashion. You can wear it round the house when you're chillin' or you can wear it out when your killin'. Just one of those jumpers that spells having a good fucking time!
M.
Peace out brother! Because just looking at your jumper is making me peace out.
M.
We were very stoked to have been photographed by a fellow fashion blogger, Sam,  in the CBD. This has never happened to us previously and as Michael said before, we felt a sense of deja vu. Check out her blog here 'fashiontrics', loving her recent posts that describe her inspiration.

This girl caught our attention as soon as she walked by and was polite enough to let us take up some of her time. It was a rare moment where, although she wasn't a model, I swear she could have been! Every shot I took she gave me a new pose and in the end every shot looked fantastic. It was a struggle to choose one to post. It really shows how some people just have the innate ability to communicate their look and expression to the camera.
B.

After shooting the previous girl I wasn't sure i'd come across someone with such flair in front of the camera, but I was soon surprised. We bumped into this fashion designer from Sydney on our way to the town hall, and every shot I got of her looked great as well! She had a great style and was up for a chat which we always love.
B.

On our way to the tram stop on the Bourke St mall we bumped into some same sex marriage activists who were out to gain support. Check out the event on facebook and get behind the rally. Here's a description from the facebook event...
'On the seventh anniversary of the marriage act being re-written, we at Equal Love and the majority of Australians demand equal rights now!'
Not only did we dig this guys look, we also were into the cause he was representing.

melbourne cbd, 6/7.

I think it's fair to say that this week we have truly seen the shit side of winter. Generally speaking I like winter, I like the clothes you can wear, all the warm food and having a good snuggle. However even for a winter lover like myself, a winter week like this one has been horrible. We headed out on thursday to try and find some good people to take photos of that were prepared to brave the cold, we had limited success for hours, however when the rain got its marching orders we found lots of lovely faces around the city.
M.
This was the first girl I took a photo of for the day, I was sucked in not only because she was obviously a thousand times warmer than I was, but there's not much cuter than a Panda!
M.

The shots above and below were taken in an alleyway between Melbourne Central. There were some great doorways and I knew at once that I had to take some photos in this location. What struck me about the girl above was definitely her coat, it looked so warm and snug! What caught my eye about the girl below was her bear/panda hat that she bought on Acland St, St Kilda. What a buy!
B.

I have a cardigan very similar to the one the girl above is wearing so I thought I better get a quick snap. My cardigan like this one is so comfy and is my favourite thing to wear around the house, so I was jealous of how at peace with life she must have been! She was also very cute and nice. While walking around on thursday a conversation arose about how much more enjoyable it is to take photos of nice people over people who simply think they're too cool for school. Luckily those dickheads are pretty rare!
M.
This guy was nice enough to grab some shelter with me as I took his photo. He was in a band from QLD playing at the Northcote Social Club in the next few weeks.
B.
This girl walked by as i'd almost given up on finding anyone for the rest of the day. Not only did her shoes stand out, when she put on her retro sunnies the photo was complete. Perfect example showing that winter doesn't just mean bland, dark colours, rather can be a great time to sport a bit of colour on the street.
B.

I've really been digging the old double colour match latly, this guy looked cool with his red shoes and jumper, it's very suttle but at the same time grabs your attention.
M.
These amazing looking individuals are from a band called Persia, we tried to look them up via various means such as myspace however had no success. If you happen to find them let us know and we will post up a video for them.
M.

This guy immediately stood out with an awesome 'abstract' jumper. While being warm it also makes a statement which I love. Not sure if he bought it new or second hand but I've seen similar ones at Savers before and have been extremely tempted. If you haven't yet given second hand jumpers and 'cardi's' a try this is the perfect time to start. Not only are they cheap, if you're lucky they'll be 100% woolen. With such warmth there's no excuses for not venturing outside and staying in by the heater all day.
B.

As i've talked about before, some days certain things stand out to me. Last week long socks, this week- various shoes. We were lucky yesterday to come across many people making their mark through what they were wearing on their feet. Not only did this guy stand out to us with his bow tie and vibrant colours, the vintage tones of his shoes contrasted beautifully with the black of his jeans.
